Box.net has recently raised expansion capital to the tune of $6 million in Series B funding, which was headed by US Venture Partners. They have recently expanded to become an online storage platform service not only for it’s own members, but for other services as well. Box.net’s service called OpenBox, serves storage solutions for other third-party partners like Zoho and Zazzle.
Box.net’s started out as a free personal file sharing and storage service offering widgets and applications allowing you to share your information on social networks such as MySpace and Facebook. They have successfully expanded to offer advanced storage features for business and enterprise customers that are willing to pay a subscription fee. The additional funding will be allocated towards developing new partnerships and alliances and expanding on features and storage capabilities.
Box.net currently has more than 1.4 million members, the majority paying a subscription fee for the service. Box.net offers an excellent portable file storage solution and a place where you can store your files online securely and privately, to share with others, thus not clogging up your computer disk space.
