Ok so the formula worked decades ago, this version is loaded with moments reminiscing of the earlier Indy flicks which were full of action, adventure, romance and comedy sequences. The Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crustal Skull however seems a little like its reaching back to its past glory, which is fine. The action sequences are really nothing that spectacular, but you can’t expect Harrison who is in his mid 60’s to match the macho he displayed in the mine chase of Temple of Doom, or show the guts-and-glory of that great truck chase in Raiders of the Lost Ark. If you loved the first three Indiana Jones flicks, because of the great action sequences, mythic legends and beasts of wonder and great comedic touches, well written within and incorporated into the stories; then Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull will not disappoint, as it has enough action, nostalgia and comedic touches to make it a great story. Crystal Skull brings back the old faces (Karen Allen) and themes that we remember and loved Indiana Jones. It surely will be one of the big blockbusters of the summer, just for old times sake.
