You’ve probably already heard numerous times and know that it’s important to drink lots of clear refreshing water daily. A minimum of at least 8 glasses of water a day is recommended my most health experts and doctors. You should be aiming for a few more glasses if it is really hot outside, or if you’re working out and happening to be sweating a lot. Drinking enough water will prevent your body from getting dehydrated.

According to the website WEBMD, you can gauge the early signs of dehydration in your body by the following: increased thirst, sticky saliva, a dry mouth, reduced urine which is a dark yellow. You will also experience headaches and a lack of energy.

None of these symptoms sound very fun at all. It is after all pretty hard to drink that much water, especially when there are sodas, tea and coffee that don’t really count. However, for you to to stay healthy and feel great, your goal everyday should be drinking those eight glasses of water each and every day regardless.

Here are a few tips to help you remember drinking enough water, and hopefully to make it a bit more interesting.

1. Keep a Water Log
This can be just a little piece of paper on your fridge, or in your day planner. Just make little check-marks every time you drink a glass of water. This will help you in tracking how much water you have drank in any given day. It will also be a motivating factor to try getting those 8 check-marks daily.

2. Add A Touch Of Lemon Juice

If drinking bland water is boring, you can add a bit of flavor by adding a teaspoon of lemon juice to your water. Also try some other fruit juice flavors. Just make sure that you’re still drinking mainly water. Just a splash of flavor should make things interesting while not adding a lot of sugar or calories.

3. Carbonated Club Soda
If you’re craving for a bit of that fizz, try Club Soda. But keep in mind, most bottles contain too much fizz, so the best solution is to add a bit of water to it. You can also spice things up by drinking flavored club soda. Alternatively, you can also add a bit of lemon or lime juice to your watered down club soda.

4. Drink Some Water When Your Hungry
Did you know that most of us actually feel hungry when in fact we are thirsty. If you suddenly feel those hunger pangs, try drinking a glass or two of water. It may turn out you were just thirsty.

5. Always Carry Around A Water Bottle
It’s always easier to sip water when you have it readily handy. Make sure you always carry a bottle of water around with you, whether it be at work, or in the car, while running errands or shopping, working in the yard, or even when housekeeping. You will start sipping away on the water without even noticing it.

6. Always Drink More Water When Exercising Or Working Out
This needs repeating. Make sure you drink a few more glasses of water if you’re working out, or if you’re outdoors while it’s hot. Your body needs a lot more water when it sweats a lot. So don’t forget to fill yourself back up with water during and after your workout or jog.

At first, pay attention to how much water you drink daily and implement some of these ideas to drink the recommended eight glasses of water daily. Your body will thank you for it in the long run. After a while, it will become second nature and become you favorite beverage.
