When under the hot summer sun, always keep a box of baking soda handy. Because of its alkaline properties, baking soda soothes sunburned skin, helping to relieve the itching and burning sensation. It also helps dry out sunburn blisters quickly.
Mix 2 tablespoons of baking soda in a glass of cold water. Soak a washcloth in this solution, wring out, and then apply as a compress for 10 minutes. Repeat several times a day until you feel relief. At night, run a bath with 1/2 cup of baking soda and Epsom salt.
