8 Ways How You Are Affected By The Cold Weather Out There

4 – Shaking And Shivering All Over

If you’re sitting in a warm room and then suddenly begin to shiver, you’re then either waiting for a root canal, going on a blind date, or have some type of neurological disorder. When it comes to the cold weather, shaking is a common response.

The reason for this, is because what the brain does, is interprets the cold temperature information on the skin as danger, and then determines you should begin shivering. This shivering is the body’s last response, when attempting to maintain proper internal body temperature.

3 – Causes Energy Conservation

What the cold temperature outside does is makes everything slow down, including ones metabolism. This is how the human body reacts, this instinctively and inherently, as it chooses to reassign its energy reserves differently, this so the body could keep warm.

It does so by deliberately limiting certain muscle contractions, while reallocating the amounts of carbohydrates that’s used. If the weather is cold, more carbs are needed to produce lactic acid, and what the nervous system does is slows down, to help retain it.

2 – Blinded By The Snow

What extreme cold temperatures are known to do, is reduce the quality of vision. What can cause temporary blindness, is the cold howling wind that’s caused by a blizzard, or because of the bright brilliant snow outside.

What the glare of the sun bouncing off a white blanket of snow, has is the potential of causing cornea injury, when suddenly exposed to it. The best way to avoid this, is by wearing appropriate protective eye wear, sunglasses, this especially when doing outdoor activities such as skiing.

1 – The Brain Can Go Numb

This isn’t that instant brain freeze, once slurping down something that’s extremely cold, and then feeling that sensation from the roof of the mouth directly to the skull. It’s more about the fact that the brain actually goes into shock, and stops functioning as efficiently as it should, this when it’s extremely cold outside.

Once the core temperature gets too low, the body goes into a hypothermic state, and the brain and nervous system has a difficult time maintaining functional logical thinking. This is the reason why hikers or hunters will get disorientated in the cold, or force people do strange things and react oddly.
